Obama administration not reporting all Afghan attacks against U.S. and coalition forces

The U.S.-led military coalition in Afghanistan is under-reporting the number of times that Afghan soldiers and police open fire on American and other foreign troops, the AP reported on Monday. This latest report is consistent with an earlier report from the AP, which - despite the phony explanations [on the lack of tranparency] offered by U.S officials - is indicative of the Obama administration's efforts to conceal the facts so as not to raise any red flags with regards to the President's exit strategy, including his ongoing strategy of trying to make nice with the Taliban.

Let's begin with the latest report:
The U.S.-led coalition routinely reports each time an American or foreign solider is killed by an Afghan in uniform. [Editor's note: It should be noted, though, that the Pentagon's casualty announcement often omits the fact that the Americans were killed by their supposed Afghan allies; more on that later.] But The Associated Press has learned it does not report insider attacks in which the Afghan wounds — or misses — his U.S. or allied target. It also doesn't report the wounding of troops who were attacked alongside those who were killed.

Such attacks reveal a level of mistrust and ill will between the U.S.-led coalition and its Afghan counterparts... The U.S. and its military partners are working more closely with Afghan troops in preparation for handing off security responsibility to them by the end of 2014.

In recent weeks an Afghan soldier opened fire on a group of American soldiers but missed the group entirely. The Americans quickly shot him to death. Not a word about this was reported by the International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, as the coalition is formally known. It was disclosed to the AP by a U.S. official who was granted anonymity in order to give a fuller picture of the "insider" problem.

ISAF also said nothing about last week's attack in which two Afghan policemen in Kandahar province fired on U.S. soldiers, wounding two... The two Afghan policemen were shot to death by the Americans present.

Just last Wednesday, an attack that killed a U.S. Army special forces soldier, Staff Sgt. Andrew T. Brittonmihalo, 25, of Simi Valley, Calif., also wounded three other American soldiers. The death was reported by ISAF as an insider attack, but it made no mention of the wounded — or that an Afghan civilian also was killed.

The attacker was an Afghan special forces soldier who opened fire with a machine gun at a base in Kandahar province. He was killed by return fire.

The insider threat has existed for years but has grown more deadly. Last year there were 21 fatal attacks that killed 35 coalition service members, according to ISAF figures. That compares with 11 fatal attacks and 20 deaths the previous year. In 2007 and 2008 there were a combined total of four attacks and four deaths...

Mark Jacobson, an international affairs expert at the German Marshall Fund in Washington and a former deputy NATO senior civilian representative in Afghanistan, said attacks of all types are cause for worry.

"You have to build up trust when working with partners, and years of trust can be destroyed in just a minute...; it threatens the partnership" Jacobson said.

Until now there has been little public notice of non-fatal insider attacks, even though they would appear to reflect the same deadly intent as that of Afghans who manage to succeed in killing their foreign partners...

In addition to 10 fatal insider attacks so far this year, there have been two others that resulted in no deaths or injuries, plus one attack that resulted in wounded, for a total of 13 attacks. The three non-fatal attacks had not previously been reported...

Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Afghan Defense Ministry, said... "a number of soldiers" have been arrested for activity that might suggest a plot, such as providing information on army activities to people outside the military, he said. Some have been dismissed from the Army, but he did not provide figures...
Last month, I cited an AP report that said "the Pentagon's casualty announcement" on at least 5 U.S. soldiers - who were killed in recent months - omitted the fact that the Americans were killed by "their supposed Afghan allies".

I noted then that - while the investigation into the recent killing of Afghan civilians by a U.S. soldier has been discussed at length by President Obama and his administration - including a discussion by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta about a possible death sentence for the aforementioned U.S. soldier - we've heard very little from this administration about the investigations into the cold-blooded murder of our soldiers by Afghan soldiers; and, no mention of death sentences for the Afghan murderers.

Moreover, we've heard a great deal of outrage from Afghan President, Hamid Karzai, about the Afghan casualties, but we haven't heard much outrage from our own administration about the killing of our soldiers. WHY?

In any case, this administration is clearly concealing the facts. The reason for this concealment, as I noted last month, is due to the fact that Obama's [politically riddled] 2014 withdrawal deadline [Exit Strategy] is premised on the notion that the U.S. military can successfully hand over the security and control of Afghanistan to the Afghan forces, many of whom are Taliban sympathizers, who possess utter contempt for the U.S. and the U.S military. Hence, Afghan culpability in the killings of U.S. soldiers has been omitted from the Pentagon's casualty announcement"...; it's simply politics at its worst......

BBC promises to review its sex education video for youngsters

From the Daily Mail:
The BBC is to review a controversial film for youngsters which shows a computer-generated couple having sex, after it was slammed by MPs.

Corporation bosses were summoned by concerned Schools minister Nick Gibb to answer questions about the education video which is directed at primary-aged children as young as nine.

Mr Gibb told The Sun: 'Parents are justifiably worried materials like this are being used in lessons.'

In addition to computer-generated images in explicit sexual positions the Sex and Relationship Education CD-Rom by BBC Active also features animated figures making love.

There is also footage of a naked man and woman, used to demonstrate the differences between the sexes, information about 'wet dreams' and masturbation, and graphic diagrams of genitalia...

The BBC stands by the film, saying it has been put together after consultation with local authorities and experts in education.

A spokesman for BBC Active said the film had already been widely used but would now be updated.
In 2008, Barack Obama fended off criticism from the McCain campaign about his support of a proposed piece of legislation in Illinois to teach sex education to kindergarten students.

Obama, in typical fashion, scoffed at the criticism and said supporting the [sex ed] bill was "the right thing to do", adding that he had only supported the teching of 'age-appropriate' sex education to the kindergaten students [how to defend themselves against sexual predators etc.].

However, as I noted at the time:
The Illinois bill clearly states as follows:
The program established under this Act shall...shall include age appropriate instruction in grades K through 12 on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV..., [and] sexual abstinence etc.
I also noted as follows:
The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the US [SEICUS], in its "Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education for Kindergarten through 12th Grade", states that [PDF file] sex education courses should be appropriate to the "age and developmental level of the students". Sound familiar? The Obama campaign even sent the SIECUS guidelines to MSNBC when asked about this issue last year. SIECUS, like Obama, also recommends that teachers talk with students about inappropriate touching etc.

However, SIECUS also recommends that the following be taught to students, ages 5 through 8:
Reproduction requires that a sperm and egg join. Vaginal intercourse – when a penis is placed inside a vagina – is the most common way for a sperm and egg to join. Babies usually come out of a woman’s body through an opening called a vagina.

Human beings can love people of the same gender and people of another gender. Some people are heterosexual, which means they can be attracted to and fall in love with someone of another gender. Homosexual men and women are also known as gay men and lesbians. Two people of the same gender can live in loving, lifetime committed relationships.

Touching and rubbing one’s own genitals to feel good is called masturbation. Some boys and girls masturbate and others do not. Masturbation should be done in a private place.

The most common ways for a person to get an STD [sexually transmitted disease] is to participate in sexual behavior or share a needle with another person who is already infected with an STD.
President Obama is a graduate of Harvard Law School, a wise man indeed; perhaps the BBC should appoint him as their spokesman and have him argue their case.

Climate Change: Wind Farms are warming Texas

From Discovery News:
New research finds that wind farms actually warm up the surface of the land underneath them during the night, a phenomena that could put a damper on efforts to expand wind energy as a green energy solution.

Researchers used satellite data from 2003 to 2011 to examine surface temperatures across as wide swath of west Texas, which has built four of the world's largest wind farms. The data showed a direct correlation between night-time temperatures increases of 0.72 degrees C (1.3 degrees F) and the placement of the farms.

"Given the present installed capacity and the projected growth in installation of wind farms across the world, I feel that wind farms, if spatially large enough, might have noticeable impacts on local to regional meteorology," Liming Zhou, associate professor at the State University of New York, Albany and author of the paper published April 29 in Nature Climate Change said in an e-mail to Discovery News...

"The year-to-year land surface temperature over wind farms shows a persistent upward trend from 2003 to 2011, consistent with the increasing number of operational wind turbines with time," Zhou said...

The warming could hurt local farmers, who have already suffered through a killer drought over the past few years. Texas agriculture contributes $80 billion to the state's economy...

West Texas is a dry area that uses irrigation to grow wheat, cotton and other crops, as well as raise cattle. But increased warming can play havoc with plant growth, as well as change local rainfall patterns....

John Dabiri, director of the Center for Bioinspired Wind Energy at the California Institute of Technology, who is an expert on wind power design, said... Zhou's findings may mean taking a second look at the trade-offs with renewable energy.

"It shows that we need to think carefully about the unintended environmental consequences of any large-scale energy development," Dabiri said, "including green technologies."

Obama has held more re-election fundraisers than previous five Presidents combined!

From the Daily Mail:
Barack Obama has already held more re-election fundraising events than every elected president since Richard Nixon combined, according to figures to be published in a new book.
Obama is also the only president in the past 35 years to visit every electoral battleground state in his first year of office.

The figures, contained a in a new book called The Rise of the President’s Permanent Campaign by Brendan J. Doherty, due to be published by University Press of Kansas in July, give statistical backing to the notion that Obama is more preoccupied with being re-elected than any other commander-in-chief of modern times.

Doherty, who has compiled statistics about presidential travel and fundraising going back to President Jimmy Carter in 1977, found that Obama had held 104 fundraisers by March 6th this year, compared to 94 held by Presidents Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Snr, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush combined!..

Doherty, a political science professor at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, has also analysed presidential travel to battleground or swing states...

In their first years in office, Carter visited eight out of 18 battleground states and Reagan seven out of 17. Bush Snr, Clinton and Bush Jnr all visited around three-quarters of battleground states while Obama went to all 15 within his first 12 months...

In his book, Doherty writes that in his first full month in office Obama visited Indiana, Florida, Colorado, Arizona and North Carolina – all battleground states - in 2012. 'Clearly, the White House made a point of the president travelling to key electoral states early in his term in office.'

Bin Laden files show the obvious: Al-Qaida and Taliban leaders in close contact

From the Guardian-UK:
Documents found in the house where Osama bin Laden was killed a year ago show a close working relationship between top al-Qaida leaders and Mullah Omar, the overall commander of the Taliban, including frequent discussions of joint operations against Nato forces in Afghanistan, the Afghan government and targets in Pakistan.

The communications show a three-way conversation between Bin Laden, his then deputy Ayman Zawahiri and Omar, who is believed to have been in Pakistan since fleeing Afghanistan after the collapse of his regime in 2001.

They indicate a "very considerable degree of ideological convergence", a Washington-based source familiar with the documents told the Guardian...

The news will undermine hopes of a negotiated peace in Afghanistan, where the key debate among analysts and policymakers is whether the Taliban – seen by many as following an Afghan nationalist agenda – might once again offer a safe haven to al-Qaida or like-minded militants, or whether they can be persuaded to renounce terrorism.
In truth, this report is not shocking at all. Back in January, while the Obama administration was conducting so-called "peace negotiations" with an emissary of Mullah Omar, Mr. Omar, with the help of a senior Al Qaeda leader, was creating a new alliance to battle the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

No doubt the Obama administration was cognizant of this and was also aware of Taliban's ongoing relationship with Al Qaeda. But sadly, the White House is desperately seeking an exit strategy, at all costs. And the Taliban, after hearing President Obama, in 2009, announce a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, while simultaneously announcing his troop surge, was fully aware that Obama was [desperately] seeking an exit [surrender] strategy.

In an interview with CNN, shortly after Obama announced his perilous exit strategy, Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Ambassador to Afghanistan and Iraq, told CNN as follows:
Today, the president of the United States... announced an escalation of the war... But he also coupled that with an exit strategy, including a goal of when the troops can start coming home...

If you [establish] a time line, you encourage the enemy to out-wait you, to regard the strategy as not enduring. When I was the ambassador in Afghanistan, the Taliban sent me a message saying: "You have all the watches, but we have all the time!.."

I think the emphasis on an artificial time line may encourage the Taliban to persist, to endure and for the region to assume that we do not have the staying power and, therefore, make the job of succeeding harder.
Perhaps the Guardian finds these documents shocking, but there's nothing shocking here; it's not much of a revelation at all.

The President is fully aware of the ongoing Taliban/Al Qaeda communications, but he continues to seek an exit strategy at all costs because: he "can't lose the whole Democratic Party!"

Jimmy Fallon & the Networks are Obama Puppets - Video Mix

President Obama made his first appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show Wednesday, which essentially turned into a political soapbox for Obama - with Fallon and his crew hopping along on the soapbox, taking swipes at the GOP and helping the President deliver his political message.

The contrast between Jimmy Fallon's treatment of Obama, last night, and the abhorrent way he treated Rep. Michele Bachmann, when she appeared on his show last year, couldn't be any greater. It goes without saying that Fallon, the TV networks and the mainstream media are all in the tank for Obama; they are, in essence, Obama's political puppets:

Obama, silver spoons, and the Tony Rezkos of the world

Addressing a crowd at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio, last week, President Obama said that many Americans are in need of assistance in order to prosper. "I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, Michelle wasn't, but somebody gave us a chance," he said. And indeed, Obama's associates and friends, the likes of Tony Rezko, gave him THAT chance:

New York Times concedes pro-Obama slant, admits "Readers deserve to know: Who is the real Barack Obama?"

From the New York Times h/t Weasel Zippers:
The general election season is on, and the Times needs to offer an aggressive look at the president’s record, policy promises and campaign operation to answer the question: Who is the real Barack Obama?

Many critics view The Times as constitutionally unable to address the election in an unbiased fashion. Like a lot of America, it basked a bit in the warm glow of Mr. Obama’s election in 2008. The company published a book about the country’s first African-American president, “Obama: The Historic Journey.” The Times also published a lengthy portrait of him in its Times Topics section on NYTimes.com, yet there’s nothing of the kind about George W. Bush or his father.

According to a study by the media scholars Stephen J. Farnsworth and S. Robert Lichter, The Times’s coverage of the president’s first year in office was significantly more favorable than its first-year coverage of three predecessors who also brought a new party to power in the White House: George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan...

A strong current of skepticism holds that the paper skews left. Unfortunately, this is exacerbated by collateral factors — for example, political views that creep into nonpolitical coverage...

Readers deserve to know: Who is the real Barack Obama? And The Times needs to show that it can address the question in a hard-nosed, unbiased way.
On October 30th, 2008, just days before the Presidential election, Tom Brokaw, the moderator (at the time) of Meet the Press, appeared on the Charlie Rose show. Both Rose and Brokaw admitted that they didn't really know too much about Barack Obama, which prompted Rush Limbaugh to ask [at the time] why they waited till the election to ask this question.

Last week, Mr. Limbaugh played a clip of Charlie Rose [currently co-host of CBS News This Morning program] saying the following: "Mitt Romney's now almost certain to be the Republican nominee, but there's still a lot of questions about who he really is." Heh...

Limbaugh had a good time with that one:
RUSH: Oh, is that right, Charlie? A lot of questions about who he really is? Well, let's go back to October 30th, 2008, the Charlie Rose Show, where he had as his guest the moderator (at the time) of Meet the Press, Tom Brokaw. And we put together a montage of what they were discussing just a few days before the election in 2008. Remember now, Charlie Rose just said, "There's a lot of questions about who Mitt Romney really is."

ROSE: I don't know what Barack Obama's worldview is.

BROKAW: No, I don't, either.

ROSE: I don't know how he really sees where China is.

BROKAW: We don't know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.

ROSE: I don't really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?

BROKAW: Yeah, it's an interesting question.

ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches.

BROKAW: Two of them! I don't know what books he's read.

ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?

BROKAW: There's a lot about him we don't know.

RUSH: It didn't bother 'em, though. There's a lot about him we know now! There's a whole hell of a lot we know now, but we didn't know then. The thing is, back then they didn't even care to answer these questions! This is October. This is a week before the election. Here's Charlie Rose and Tom Brokaw -- two of the most proud members of the media establishment -- proudly admitting they don't know a thing about the guy they can't wait to elect! They don't know who his friends are, they don't know who his mentors are, they don't know who he listens to on foreign policy. "I don't know what books he's read."

They don't know diddly-squat! They're journalists and they admit they don't know anything. And furthermore, they didn't care. It didn't matter. But now? Now that Charlie Rose doesn't know who Mitt Romney really is, and you know what that means? It means, "We can make up whatever we want! Since nobody knows what Romney is or who he is, we get to tell you who he is. And he's mean, rotten SOB that puts his dog on the roof! He's gonna have an elevator in his garage for his cars." You know what? I'll bet Romney is even gonna have air-conditioning in that garage! Not to mention air-conditioning in the rest of his house.

"And who is this Romney guy? Well, he just came out of nowhere! Nobody knows a thing about this guy."

Wait, Charlie. He ran for president 2008.

"That doesn't count because we don't know who he is!"

You ever heard of George Romney?

"Yeah, but that's his dad. We don't know who he is, other than he puts his dog on the roof of his car."

Yeah, but that was back in 1983.

"Doesn't matter! He'd do it again now if he could."
Heh...

Here's the montage of the Brokaw/Rose conversation that Limbaugh put together in 2008:

Obama's Secret Service gives the words 'Secret Service' a whole new meaning......

Mitt Romney vs Jay Carney: "Logical conclusions" - 50% of college graduates are unemployed or underemployed

White House, Press Secretary, Jay Carney, and Republican Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, arrived at their own "logical" conclusions to an AP report that says half of young college graduates are either jobless or underemployed in positions that don't fully use their skills and knowledge. Carney offered his "logical" conclusion during a White House Press briefing on Monday. Romney offered his own logical conclusion to the report during a town hall meeting Monday at the Mustang Expediting (Trucking Service) in Aston, Pennsylvania:

Obama's $75,800 Merry-go-round

From Weazel Zippers:
The Obama campaign may constantly paint presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney as the corporate fat cat candidate, but a new fundraising invitation from the president may even break the biggest wallets on Wall Street.

For $75,800, donors can attend the Obama-backed 18th Annual National Women's Issues Conference in Washington. The price tag earns a donor the title of "chairman," special seating, a photo op and special recognition at the conference. [The Party Time blog notes that if you don’t have $75,800 to spare, for a mere $40,000, you can get the same package, provided you attend solo.]

It would actually be a violation of FEC rules to hand over all that dough over to the Obama campaign, so here's how the president's fundraising staff is breaking it down: Obama for America, the fund going directly to the president, will get $5,000 of the donation. Then, the Democratic National Committee will get significant $30,800 chunk. Finally, the campaign will donate varying amounts to Democratic parties in swing states like Ohio, Virginia, Colorado, Iowa and North Carolina.
The Party Time blog notes: The first $5,000 will go toward Obama for America, the President’s personal campaign committee. Half of that total will be credited toward the primary, half for the general election. This is the maximum an individual can give to a campaign.

In other words, $2500 will go toward the primary - even though no one is running against Obama in the primary, heh - and $2500 will go toward the general election. [$2500 is the maximum an individual can give toward the primary campaign and the general election.]

However, Fox News reported last month as follows:
The Obama campaign apparently doesn't want to provide big campaign cash to aid Democratic lawmakers running for re-election on Capitol Hill, a stark change from previous years... House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have tried to get $30 million from Obama's campaign arm, Obama for America (OFA), and also the Democratic National Committee (DNC), but the Obama team declined the request. [Obama wants the money all for himself.]...

The move is seen as the Obama campaign focusing on its main goal, keeping the president in office for a second term, but also possibly alienating some lawmakers or even jeopardizing his party's ability to gain or retain seats on the Hill.In a statement to confirmed Fox, Obama's top campaign manager Jim Mesinna said, "Our top priority and focus is to secure the electoral votes necessary to reelect the president."
Hence, $30,800 of the $75,800 that is reportedly going to the DNC, is in essence going to the Obama campaign. A merry-go-round, heh... [Whether the rest of the money that is going to Democratic parties in swing states will be used to finance the state candidates' campaigns or whether this money will also be redirected toward Obama's campaign is not clear. Heh....]

P.S. The AP reported on Saturday that Obama's re-election effort "enjoyed a 10-to-1 financial edge over Republican rival Mitt Romney last month", out-raising Romney "by millions as Obama stuffed more than $104 million into his campaign war chest."

Obama ate dog meat, a Three Stooges Nightmare!

In his highly acclaimed memoir, Dreams From My Father, Barack Obama reveals that in his youth, he had eaten dog meat together with his Indonesian step father, Lolo Soetoro.

"With Lolo..., I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy)...," Obama wrote in his memoir.

However, while Dog meat was considered a delicacy in the Soetoro family, The Three Stooges apparently did not share this sentiment...

The Dogs and Snakes conundrum

In response to the Left's infatuation with an incident, in 1983, in which Republican Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, put his dog, Seamus, in a kennel on top of his car during a vacation trip, JimTreacher of the Daily Caller noted that President Obama, in his youth, had eaten dog meat together with his Indonesian step father, Lolo Soetoro.

From Dreams from my Father:
“With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.”
"Say what you want about Romney," says Treacher, "but at least he only put a dog on the roof of his car, not the roof of his mouth."

Incidentally, Lolo Soetoro's assertion that a man takes on the powers of whatever he eats, could perhaps explain the President's elusive and slippery nature: Obama consumed snake meat....

Perhaps Obama's audaciousness and brazenness, and his tendency to hop around from one foreign destination to the next, can be attributed to some of the other exotic meats he has eaten.

Ted Nugent vs. the New Black Panther Party, rap artist, Common

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating comments made by rock singer Ted Nugent at an NRA convention this past weekend.

Nugent, in his remarks, reaffirmed his endorsement of Republican front-runner Mitt Romney, and said, among other things, that,"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year." He then referred to members of the Obama administration as "criminals, and said that, "We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November."

Democrats quickly seized upon Nugent's comments and demanded that the Romney campaign disavow Nugent's remarks, which it did, even though Mr. Nugent's comments were not uttered at a Romney campaign event.

Contrast the way the Democrats have responded to Mr. Nugent's comments and the way they've responded and/or haven't responded to the incendiary remarks made by the rap artist, Common, and the New Black Panther Party, and various other left-wing radicals and radical groups.

In 2000, the rap artist, Common, released an album that included a song of praise about a cop-killer who escaped prison and is now living under political asylum in Cuba. In 2007, Common composed a poem that included threats to kill police officers and a call to "burn" then-President George W. Bush - although Common's defenders claim that the "burning" of Mr. Bush was metaphorical - yeah, right.....

Nevertheless, Common was rewarded for his artistic genius when he received an invitation to attend a poetry event at the White House last year, which prompted former New Jersey state trooper Sal Maggio to comment to Fox News: "A man like this who proposes violence toward police... shouldn't be let into the White House."

White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney, however, defended the invitation.

"[Common] is within the genre of hip hop and rap in what's known as a conscious rapper," said Carney.

"Conscious rapper"..... Ahem......

The New Black Panther Party recently put out a bounty on the head of the night watchman who shot Trayvon Martin. New Black Panther members also threatened to respond with violence and to engage in a bloodbath, and yet - not surprisingly - the Justice Department, President Obama and the Left did not even utter a peep.

And so, while the Secret Service is investigating Mr. Nugent, the New Black Panther Party is free to do, and say, as they please. And Common, the artistic genius and "Conscious rapper", receives an invitation to the White House....

Coca-Cola caves to Van Jones' 'ColorOfChange'

The Coca-Cola Company announced Wednesday that it was dropping its membership with the American Legislative Exchange Council [ALEC], a conservative advocacy group.

Coke had been targeted by the online [Liberal] grassroots group, ColorOfChange, an organization co-founded by President Obama's former Green Czar, Van Jones.

Last year, the group began targeting companies that support ALEC because, it claimed, the conservative group had been a strong advocate on behalf of voter ID laws.

On Wednesday, ColorOfChange started an online boycott of the Coca-Cola company, due to its membership with ALEC, because, it alleged, that ALEC had pushed for states to adopt legislation similar to Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense law, a statute which is now under scrutiny due to the recent shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

However, ALEC spokeswoman, Kaitlyn Buss, said the group did not put a lot of effort or resources into promoting voter identification legislation. Buss also said that ALEC played no role in the enactment of Florida's "Stand Your Ground" statute, and she criticized those who have politicized the "tragedy" of Trayvon Martin's death.

Van Jones' ColorOfChange was also largely responsible for the advertising boycott that forced Fox News, in 2011, to terminate Glenn Beck's afternoon talk show.

Nevertheless, ColorOfChange deserves a lot of credit, and praise, for its efforts to combat the suppression of voter registration fraud. Thanks to ColorOf Change, the Mickey Mouses of the world can vote for Barack Obama in 2012 without fear.

Ahhh......

Update: Pepsi dropped its membership with ALEC back in January.

Way to go ColorOfChange!

Harper: Thanks to Obama’s “no” on Keystone, the price of Canadian crude will go up for the U.S.

From Hot Air:
The damage is done. Even if President Barack Obama decides to approve the Keystone XL pipeline at some point in the future, he already sent a message to Canada that our northern neighbor can’t rely on us as its only energy customer — and Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper heeded it.

In an interview with former U.S. Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) in D.C. yesterday, Harper explained that Canada will now seek to expand its export market to Asia and will also cease to supply oil to the United States at a discounted rate.
“Look, the very fact that a ‘no’ could even be said underscores to our country that we must diversify our energy export markets,” Harper told Harman in front of a live audience of businesspeople, scholars, diplomats, and journalists. …

Harper also told Harman that Canada has been selling its oil to the United States at a discounted price. So not only will America be able to buy less Canadian oil even if Keystone is eventually approved, the U.S. will also have to pay more for it because the market for oils ands crude will be more competitive.

We have taken a significant price hit by virtue of the fact that we are a captive supplier and that just does not make sense in terms of the broader interests of the Canadian economy,” Harper said.... "The United States cannot be our only export market. That is not in our interest, either commercially or in terms of pricing.”

“We cannot be, as a country, in a situation where our one and, in many cases, only energy partner could say no to our energy products. We just cannot be in that position.”

Obama in '06: Attacking oil companies "may get us through this election"

The President's Liberal agenda has left him with no room for a viable "Energy" strategy, hence he now has litte choice but to rely on his ol' trusted strategy "to get" himself "through this election": Deflect, deflect, deflect, assail, assail, attack etc....

"Okay, smart guy". Heh.......

Neighbor: George Zimmerman is screaming for help on 911 tape, not Trayvon Martin

A neighbor of George Zimmerman - the night watchman who shot Trayvon Martin - says the voice on the 911 tape screaming and pleading for help is Zimmerman's. The neighbor's statement corroborates the account of an eyewitness who said Zimmerman was lying on the ground pleading for help. The neighbor also says Zimmerman's nose was swollen on both sides.

Trayvon Martin - Enhanced video shows gashes, welts, blood on shooter's head

Forensic experts were able to enhance a video that shows Trayvon Martin's shooter as he is taken into the police station shortly after the shooting. On the enhanced video, gashes [welts] and blood can be seen on his head. Initially, ABC claimed the video showed there were no apparent wounds on the night watchman's head. But, perhaps because some bloggers had indeed noticed some wounds on his head, ABC decided to be less superficial, and less partial, in its reporting, and to enhance the video.
